Kyushu University, located 120 kilometers away from TSMC's Kumamoto subsidiary, has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University and ITRI in September 2023 in the areas of semiconductors, smart carriers, and green energy, and further plans to set up joint research laboratories centered on semiconductors at the University's Ito Campus (in the western district of Fukuoka City) and at Yang Ming Jiaotong University, respectively. Through the integration of each other's local industry-academia cooperation frameworks, the two sides will also promote the entry of local enterprises into the international semiconductor supply chain framework.
