At the end of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, we also announced the establishment of the American Taiwan Climate Club (ACC) with the American Climate Club (ACC) in order to work toward the global goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
According to the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Taiwan and the U.S., the two sides will endeavor to establish a set of carbon standards that are on par with international standards, and propose a white paper on ESG policies on environmental protection, social responsibility, and governance, which will help Taiwan to have more influence in the international carbon trading arena.
President Lin Chi-hung pointed out that our university aspires to become a world-class university and a major town for research and innovation in the global high-tech industry, and will combine 17 sustainable development goals as the warp and woof of the university's development, and will strive to cultivate human resources with a sense of responsibility for global citizenship, and to invest in research that promotes the well-being of human life. Through the establishment of the Taiwan-U.S. Climate Club, we hope that Taiwan will become a major player in the international environmental protection arena and gain a foothold in the global carbon market.
DFI Center CEO Jen Ting-Yi emphasized that the partnership will open the door for Taiwan toPromoting the integration of carbon rights into international trade and facilitating international dialogue and circulation of carbon rights.In addition, it creates more value for the development of Taiwan's green economy.
