A First Look at Taiwan-Japan Cooperation (2023): Launching Next-Generation Semiconductor Development in Taiwan and Japan

Professors from Tokyo University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, Kyushu University, etc. recognized the advantageous connection between Yang Ming Jiaotong University and Taiwan's semiconductor industry, and looked forward to deepening the cooperation so that the next-generation technology can be quickly connected to industrial applications.

NYCU Delegation Dean Sun Yuan Cheng and Professor Seiji KagawaNYCU introduced NYCU's Institute for Industrial Innovation and Research, NYCU's Semiconductor Ecosystem, the Semiconductor Talent Acquisition Program (SWAP), and the linkage between Taiwan's semiconductor industry and NYCU. NYCU used a real case of an academic invention that had been successfully applied to advanced semiconductor manufacturing (TEM application of ALD technology in advanced semiconductor manufacturing) to start a dialogue on the next-generation development of semiconductors in Taiwan and Japan. The dialog was held.

Representatives of the Japanese academic community includeProf. Yoh Fujioka, University of Tokyo; Prof. Takafumi Aoki, Vice President, Tohoku University; Prof. Kentaro Totsu; Prof. Haruichi Kanaya, Kyushu University; Prof. Pham Nam Hai, Tokyo Institute of Technology等,皆發表談話;教授們除了介紹各自研究的領域之外,全面且一致的認同NYCU寒川教授所倡議的:「Deepen the cooperation with NYCU in Taiwan, so that the R&D technology can be efficiently connected to the industrial utility."The program was organized by the University of Tokyo. Takafumi Aoki, Vice President of Northeastern University, expressed his deep recognition of and interest in the Industrial and Creative Academy model and SWAP at Yang Ming Jiaotong University, and said that he would be happy to see more student exchanges, exchanges, and reciprocal visits, which would enable young Japanese students to have the opportunity to broaden their experience and horizons in the world-class semiconductor industry chain.
